Patchbay

A panel that brings every connection to one place for re-routing

A patchbay brings a mass of device connections to one panel, where short cables change the routing. It saves crawling behind the rack and enables fast normal and half-normal connections.

It differs from a bus: a bus is a logical summing channel, a patchbay is a physical switching point. The usual mistake is to think patchbays are only for big studios — a small room benefits too; what it saves is not cable but the time and errors of every re-patch.
