Hob. Anh. Number

The Haydn catalogue's appendix for doubtful works

Hob. Anh. numbers are the appendix of the Haydn catalogue: they hold doubtful, spurious and uncertainly attributed works, kept apart from the main numbers.

They differ from Hob. numbers: the main numbers mark confirmed Haydn works, the appendix marks doubt. The usual mistake is to treat Hob. Anh. as Haydn — it only says "once attributed to Haydn"; authenticity depends on the entry and the research.
