The Poulenc catalogue number

OpusEG NumberBB Number

FP numbers catalogue the works of Francis Poulenc, compiled by Carl B. Schmidt and arranged chronologically. They give a stable identity to pieces without a reliable Op. number.

They differ from Op.: Poulenc's opus numbers are not continuous; FP is a scholarly catalogue. The usual mistake is to read FP as a publisher's number — it is a catalogue number; a work may carry both an Op. and an FP.
