BB Number

Another Bartók catalogue, often cited beside Sz.

Sz. NumberOpusBWV

BB numbers are another catalogue of Bartók's works (Bartók Béla), compiled by László Somfai and others in 1981 and arranged chronologically. They are often cited alongside Sz. numbers.

They differ from Sz.: the ordering logic and the numbers themselves differ; the same work usually has different BB and Sz. numbers. The usual mistake is to take BB as an abbreviation of Sz. — they are two independent catalogues; say which one you are citing.
