The Bartók catalogue by Szőllősy

BB NumberOpusBWV

Sz. numbers catalogue Bartók's works, compiled by the Hungarian musicologist András Szőllősy. They are arranged by genre and chronology and are among the most common Bartók numbers in the literature.

They differ from BB numbers, another Bartók catalogue (Bartók Béla); the two are often cited side by side. The usual mistake is to read Sz. as an opus number — it is a catalogue number, not a publisher's opus; a work may also have an Op. number.
