Termination Right
The right to end a contract or reclaim transferred copyright by law
Related
Termination right has two senses: a contractual right to end a deal on expiry, breach or a stated condition; and, in some jurisdictions such as the United States, a statutory right of authors to reclaim rights years after a transfer.
The usual mistake is to think a perpetual assignment can never be undone: statutory termination generally cannot be waived in advance, but it must be exercised with the required notice inside a window period. Contract termination and statutory termination are separate mechanisms and should not be conflated. This is general information, not legal advice.
