Soave
Gentle, sweet, without edges
Related
Soave is an expression mark: gentle, sweet, without edges. It stresses "smooth" more than dolce, often tied to legato, soft attacks and round colour.
It is close to dolce, but dolce stresses sweetness while soave stresses smoothness and lack of abrasion. The usual mistake is to play it soft — gentleness can be present; the point is whether the sound has edges, not how loud it is.
