J. Number (Weber)
The Weber catalogue — J. numbers, not to be confused with Mozart's K.
Related
J. numbers catalogue the works of Carl Maria von Weber, compiled by Friedrich Wilhelm Jähns. They share the habit of abbreviation with Mozart's K., but are an entirely different catalogue.
They differ from Op.: Weber's opus numbers are incomplete; J. is a scholarly catalogue. The usual mistake is to read J. as Mozart's K. — different letter, different composer; when you see J., check whether it is Weber or someone else.
