Da Capo
D.C. — go back to the beginning, often "until Fine"
Related
Da capo (D.C.) means "from the head" — go back to the beginning. Two common variants: D.C. al fine returns to the start and plays until the mark Fine; D.C. al coda returns and then jumps to the coda at the sign.
It is everywhere in Baroque opera: an aria sings the A section, then B, then D.C. back to A, and the singer ornaments the repeat — the page says "once more", what you hear is "the same material performed a second time". This is where the term "da capo aria" comes from.
