Catalogue
A collection of song or master rights that can be bought and sold as a whole
Related
A catalogue is a collection of song copyrights or master rights that can be valued, bought, sold, pledged or licensed as a whole. Buyers look at durable cash flow: historical income, the mix of rights holders, contract terms and the risk of rights reverting all affect the price.
The usual mistake is to assume a bigger catalogue is worth more: clean title, pending disputes and how soon termination rights may be exercised matter more than volume. Due diligence should cover the chain of title, registration status and an audit of income. This is general information, not legal advice.
