360 Deal
A deal giving the label a share of touring, merch and other income
Related
A 360 deal gives a label a share of the artist's income beyond recordings — touring, merchandise, sponsorship and publishing. In exchange the company usually offers a larger advance and more spending on production and marketing, treating the artist as a whole brand.
It differs from a traditional record deal that shares only recording sales. The usual mistake is to see 360 as simply more money: it lets the label share other careers, and a broad, long term can limit independence. Negotiate which income is included, whether costs are deducted, whether the term can shrink, and whether missed targets allow exit.
