Wq Number

The C. P. E. Bach catalogue — later supplemented by H numbers

Wq numbers catalogue the works of C. P. E. Bach (Carl Philipp Emanuel), compiled by Alfred Wotquenne in 1905. Eugene Helm's later catalogue (H numbers) is more complete, and the two are often cited together.

It differs from BWV: BWV catalogues J. S. Bach, Wq his second son C. P. E. Bach. The usual mistake is to think Wq and H are different works — one work often has both numbers; when you see Wq, check which H it corresponds to.
