Scherzando
Played in a joking, playful tone — not the same as fast
Related
Scherzando is an expression mark: play in a joking, playful, light tone. It comes from Italian scherzare, "to joke", and shares a root with scherzo, but it names a manner, not a form.
It is not "fast": a slow scherzando can be just as playful, through staccato, displaced accents and colour. The usual mistake is to treat it as "anything goes" — humour needs precise rhythm and restraint before the joke lands.
